The Hong Sisters are at it again.  If you’re clueless about the hallyu wave, Hong Sisters are like the rock stars of the Korean drama screenwriting world. They’ve delivered hit after hit. Just to name their works : Delightful Girl Choon-Hyang, My Girl, Fantasy Couple, Hong Gil Dong and most recently, You’re Beautiful. Now, they’re back again on small television screens everywhere in South Korea and in different parts of the world where folks like me will be watching on their small laptop to be fully immersed in their world in their next project, My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho (Nine-Tailed Fox).

What’s a Gumiho, you may ask? Here, let me google that for you. This time, the sisters have put a supernatural spin on the typical romantic kdrama. And since it’s by the Hong Sisters, you can’t forget their signature potty humor–there’s no room for politeness decorum.

The camera focuses on extremely beautiful woman who is waiting for someone down the stairs.  She’s delighted to see that he’s there. The background music is lovely, it’s giving an ambiance that it’s true love.  The average-joe-looking boy spots her as he comes down the stairs. His carefree expression drastically changes to a panicked one. The girl keeps shouting out his name to catch his attention but he clearly doesn’t want to be near her. Dae Woong knows that she’s trouble.  He runs in the complete opposite direction and pretends to talk on his cellphone. Somehow she magically appears in front of him and he’s trapped. There’s no way he’s going to escape the terror that is his girlfriend. She grabs his hand and they gallop across the street while men gawks at her very presence. More men toppling over her. And now even more men sighing.  She demands that he buy beef for her today or she’ll kill him and devour every morsel of his flesh. She promptly takes a finger, swipes it against his face and licks it. Poor guy, he doesn’t even have a say in this.  I’m guessing dating a gumiho isn’t quite lavish as you might’ve thought, eh Dae Woong?

It turns out that Dae Woong is an aspiring stunt man and his dream is to become an action star much to his grandfather’s disapproval. His parents passed away when he was young and his rich grandfather is all he has for financial support. Rather than abiding by his grandfather’s wishes for him to study him in the UK, he spends his time in the salon reading scripts and preparing for auditions and riding his shiny motorcycle that he bought with his Granpappy’s tuition money (What an idiot). The only person supporting his dream is this mysterious girl who’s-name-I-have-no-care-for (something tells me that this drama will feature a love square ahem).

Stupid Dae Woong is now getting a curl perm for an audition at his Granpappy’s salon and just to emphasize how much he’s an idiot, he just realizes that the movie he’s starring is historical and I doubt there would be any curly haired samurais back then. While he ponders about this, his Granpappy barges in and scolds him for wasting his money.  His friends try to reason with Granpappy about the perm damaging his grandson’s hair, Dae Woong runs for his freedom. More motorcycle scenes. Thankfully, the motorcycle scenes ends when he is stopped by a police officer who brings him to the police station. He wasn’t stopped for violating the road safety code (you know, the important stuff like speeding and not wearing a helmet *cough*) but because his motorcycle was reported stolen. That’s really it… What’s with dramas and their stupid reasons to be illogical?

Our boy is weeping behind bars until his aunt bails him out on the condition that he follows his Granpappy’s orders. Dae Woong is more worried about his hair turning into a frizzball at this point but Granpappy wins this round, little boy. You can see him smirking on the side and tasting his sweet moment of victory.

So Dae Woong finally gets to rinse off the perm residue out of his hair and he hesitantly decides to abide his Granpappy’s wishes to focus his time in school and to get into a decent college to avoid his Granpappy’s wrath. However, he later learns that his school time will clash with the audition he just got so he whines a bit more in the car and demands that they turn around. That’s not going to happen. His Granpappy will only listen to him if he’s becomes a decent human being.

Meanwhile in a rural part of Korea, two tourists are taking a tour with a monk in a temple on the waters. The monk tells the story of the fox ad the Samshin Grandma in the painting. The fox is not just a ordinary fox, but actually a trapped fox demon who dreams of becoming a human being one day. And as they very well know, SamShin Grandma was the matchmaker of the village and the demon did all her chores in hopes of becoming a human. One of the tourist points out that the fox demon is missing all of her nine tails. The monk tells them that all her tails were cut off by Samshin Grandma because the village women were envious of her beauty. He beauty was so powering that she stopped every single man in that village in their tracks and they wanted to be in every moment of her presence. The Samshin Grandma thinks of a solution that maybe getting the demon married off to a man will solve the problem. This frustrates the village women so much that they start spreading terrible rumours like that the fox demon needs to devour the livers of one hundred men to fulfill her dream of becoming completely human.

So it was time for the fox demon’s wedding. She waits in her glamorous wedding attire for the groom to show up. Seasons past by as she patiently waits. He never shows up. When she realized that no man would ever want her, she weeps and a fox howls in the distance. To prevent this from ever happening again, the Samshin Grandma cuts off all her tails and traps her in the painting that the two tourists see before them. The tourists are shocked at this ending and claim they would give up their husbands to make the demon happy once more. The monk and the tourists leave but the plump one realizes that the sausage that she brought in her bag is missing. The skinny one convinces her to forget about it and just leave.

Behind the screen, the beautiful demon is pissed. She hates the fact that the monk is bringing people to laugh and rub salt on her wounds and is speaking nonsense for their entertainment. She chews on the sausage but spits it out. It’s not even meat but tofu!  She’s hasn’t eaten meat in years and she is so hungry, she could eat a whole cow.

Granpappy is convinced that he’s going to follow his grandson wherever he goes even to the bathroom. Dae Woong is obviously not happy about this and gives Granpappy his shoe to ensure his privacy to the loo. Score! Dae Woong’s got his Granpappy’s trust back and now he’s skimming the environment for an exit. He’s an action star in the making, he’ll find a way. His Granpappy becomes suspicious ad barges into the men’s room to find that the top window is open. Shoot! He’s escaped again and rushes out to look for the stupid boy. All the while, his granboy was actually in a garbage bag the whole time. He rushes into a garbage truck that happens to pass and hides himself from his granpappy and aunt. He’s enjoying the truck ride to glorious freedom.

The truck stops at a gas station and our hero sneaks off.  It starts to pour rain heavily and he’s using a leaf for an umbrella (how cute!).  He hitches a ride with the monk who takes him to the temple on the waters. The monk offers him a place to stay until the storm is over. Dae Woong is more concerned about getting back to Seoul but the boy is such a doofus, he can’t remember his aunt’s phone number for the life of him. He gets outside to get a signal.  He find himself in front of the temple on the waters and rushes in front of the door not knowing what lies ahead of him.

The storm is is getting even more violent and Dae Woong is scared out of his wits. He’s dialing numbers furiously on his cellphone but can’t hold of his aunt. His cellphone battery is almost dying. Then a woman speaks to him on the phone telling him he’s quite cute now that he’s taken off his hat. He freaks out. Did he just accidentally press the button for video chat? He looks at his phone. His phone died moments before. Insert WTF? face on our boy. PANIC. The demon tells him to enter the temple.  He won’t be able to see her no matter how hard he looks for her. She wants him to paint nine tails onto the painting. He’s about to pee in his pants and he worries about being in trouble for vandalising the painting. And guess what, he’s still talking on the phone even though it’s dead (Can I just say this is one of the most stupidest heros I’ve come across in my years of watching kdramas?!).  He takes a marker and draws.

Snap. Crackle. Bang. Dogs are barking and the monks are having a feeling that something’s amiss. More thunder and the demon’s eyes are turning bright blue. She’s free. The painting is now only of Samshin Grandma. Dae Woong figures that he needs to get his butt off of here NOW or he’ll be dead. He runs for the woods and running as fast as he can for his dear life. He trips over a rock and tumble down a cliff near a river unconscious. Out of the blue, the demon comes out as a beautiful female and pokes at him to make sure he’s not dead. He’s in incredible pain. She saves his life by giving him her fox bead as a thank you. How does she do it? By a kiss, of course. :)

The next morning, Dae Woong wakes up to find himself hanging on a tree. He remembers falling down a cliff but not much else. He sees a pretty girl on the ground smiling at him. She says she put him there so that no boar could hurt him. He’s puzzled by how a girl like herself has superb strength to throw him over a tree branch. She replies that she’s a fox demon who talked to him on the phone last night. He’s not believing her and think she must be some mad woman.

At the temple, the monks and police are investigating how on earth the fox escaped from the picture.  All the evidence they have left is a left cellphone and now they’re looking for Dae Woong.

Dae Woong wants to get rid of this mad woman so he tells her to get lost and go back to the temple. He doesn’t want to do anything with her since he’d have to take responsibility for vandalism. She can’t go, she doesn’t want to be trapped for 500 years again because of her circumstance. Cue face of WTF? Gumiho tells him that he has in debted to her for saving his life for giving him her fox bead but he’s not having any of it. He wants to go back to Seoul and resume his life. he doesn’t want to see her nine tails. He angrily stomps off and Gumiho is smirking at what an idiot he is because he’s heading straight to the boar’s direction. Five minutes later, Dae Woong is running back to Gumiho. Looks like the two will be peas in a pod. The couple find solace at a bus station and he tells her to scram. She’s not going anywhere, Dae Woong. Dae Woong gives up and just tolerates her. She replies that she did a good thing saving him. At least it lightens up the load to the terrible thing she did years ago.

Back at the temple, the monks have sent for a vet to check on why the dog keeps barking. My, my, my. Aren’t you a delicious looking vet? He later learns about the disappearance of the fox in the painting and becomes more interested in the story. Future fox hunter in the making, me tells.

Gumiho followed Dae Woong all the way to the phone booth and she’s waiting patiently for him. He’s making phone calls here and there and she’s admiring how much the world has changed. She acts in her absurd behavior like licking the soda can and Dae Woong is just admiring her beauty.  Everything’s settled. It looks like he’s the victor against his grannypop who ended up paying for his tuition anyway. He can go to the auditions and keep his bike. Perfect. He knows that he can just leave her there since they haven’t exchanged names.  Oops, he’s forgotten that Gumihos have extremely sharp hearing. Looks like he’s stuck with her and he has to feed her now since she wants meat. Over dinner, she makes him swear that he cannot tell another human being that she’s a gumiho or she’ll kill him in exchange that he keeps mum about the vandalism. He laughs it off. Now more absurd behaviour with girl wanting to eat raw meat and he still doesn’t get it. They share the common goal of becoming human beings together but in different senses. And that they don’t have parents.

INSTANT BONDING TIME.

Dinner’s over and he’s heading back after calling the temple to pick her up. He’s feeling a bit guilty leaving her there. Gumiho looks for him with meat in her mouth at the bathroom but becomes fascinated with the toilet, thinking it’s a magical water fountain. Her bone falls down and she accidentally flushes it! Not happy, she rolls out her sleeves to get it out with her hands until she smells the monk from the temple in the building and goes hiding. The vet and the monk learns that the Dae Woong and Gumiho were here but now they’ve apparently left for Seoul so off to Seoul they go.

This is my first time drinking such and unique surprising water!

Gumiho tracks DW’s scent but on her way she comes across a man drinking soda pop and snatches it from him.  Oh, what a lovely gumiho. She’s in complete ecstasy after drinking it and guess who passes by? The scrumptious looking vet! Luckily for her, he has no idea how she looks like exactly but that she’s pretty.

Her aunt is still searching for DW but can’t get any hold of him. She gets into the elevator and lets out a fart. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t think that the man on the above floor would get on the same elevator and the poor man has to face with the stench. Two other ladies get on and starts complaining about the smell. The man in DW’s aunt’s defense takes the responsibility for letting out the fart.

Cue the most heroic kdrama moment in history. Mafia-style.

DW’s on a bus heading for Seoul and the ticketmaster tells him he has to pay for two tickets for the lady next to him. He freaks out when he sees it’s Gumiho right next to him. He accuses her of being a stalker and this angers Gumiho. He refuses to believe she’s the same gumiho in folk tales that seduces men and eats their livers.  She threatens that one day she’ll show him her nine tails on a full moon for his arrogance and take back that fox bead in him. She’ll kill him the next time she sees him.

I’ll follow you and make you believe. And then you’ll die.

DW can’t even walk straight anymore without looking behind his back to see if she’s there to kill him. He’s seeing her everywhere. On the bus, at night, on the station… A couple of his friends offer him a place to stay to keep his nerves intact. He accepts. When he’s about to change his shirt, a friend notices that he has gruesome wounds behind his back and is shocked that he doesn’t feel a thing after falling down a cliff.  Things are falling into place. HE NOW GETS IT. What that woman said was all true. He tells his friend about the Gumiho and his pal advises him to shut up since he just broke his oath of keeping her identity a secret. His friends leave the gym and he’s all by himself now playing basketball.  He throws the ball but strangely it comes back to him. He’s feeling something is wrong. Then hundreds of basketballs are heading towards him. She’s here.

Gumiho circles around him tell him that it’s a full moon out today. A perfect night to kill someone. She reveals her true identity in all her glory. And she snatches his head for a kiss of death.

In case you have been living under a rock, the film is based on a graphic novel by Bryan O’Malley where the whole series revolves around a college guy with no particular ambitions in life but to just into the pants of this one girl. In order to do that, he has to defeat her seven evil ex “boyfriends”. Yeah, that’s pretty much it.  And I quote ‘boyfriends’ because one of the villains is actually a girl. And get this, she gets defeated by an orgasm. I kid you not. I can imagine how uncomfortable her parents might be watching their girl orgasming to the public on the silver screen. Awkkkward.

And all I can recall is that I laughed out loud. Numerous times. And the opening sequence by Universal Studios was gold. This movie brought out the nostalgia in me from my childhood days growing up to the pixel ages and playing pokemon games.

I give bonus points to this film for the Canadian colloquialisms. GO CANUCKS!

I don’t know how Edgar Wright managed to do it but he definitely brought the comic book to life. Those special effects were the most amazing I’ve ever seen yet especially in that scene where the Sex-bob-ombs were band battling against the Japanese twins.

It all flows well until you’re hit by a barrage of flickering lights and redundant use of gaming overkill. It’s like Wright is purposely trying to distract you from the plot holes in the story with even more special effects.  It’s not perfect, it has its flaws. But at least Michael Cera isn’t playing a role where he’s the socially awkward wimp. He’s actually got the balls in this one. Hurray!

- The Hong Sisters’ new drama My Girlfriend Is a Nine-Tailed Fox (or Gumiho) is very promising from what I’ve seen in the first episode. A supernatural twist to melodramas I usually see is very welcomed right now. The girl is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous, I can’t take my eyes off her. She definitely fits her role. Lee Seug Gi is a good actor from what I’ve seen in Brilliant Legacy but he’s not my favorite. Let’s pray that this one will be better than Hong Gil Dong and it’s ‘plateau effect’.

- Watched 10 minutes of I Am Legend. I think Asia is going through a trend of middle-aged men/women doing rock band. One example is Shonen Merikensack. Over the last year, I’ve already seen more than 5 films based on this premise. An additional TV series wouldn’t hurt, I guess.

- Is it just me or does that REALLLY say GUILTY PANTIES on Kim Hyun joong’s uniform in Playful Kiss? That’s some really bad Engrish right there. I still can’t get my mind off of it. I have to admit, the guy is really pretty and he would’ve fit the Hanazawa Rui role in Boys Over Flowers if he just acted like himself in We Got Married!. Oh Lettuce Couple <3. I’m actually pretty pumped for this one but I’m not having any high expectations. Every time I have high hopes for a drama, they always turn out to be a disaster in the making. Now I actually liked ISWAK but I was teen back then. Even then, it took a long time for me to start liking it. I’m probably going to have a different opinion anyways since a) I’m older, b) I’m not stupid and I love strong heroines, and c) Hyun joong’s acting abilities is very limited. A toothpick and him would be best friends.

So where the heck were we? Oh right, Minae pouncing on defenseless Phillip.
Let’s resume with a recap.

Basement Jaxx – Broken Dreams

Phillip is out with Su-gyeoung and manages to catch the bullet train in time. There’s no seats available for the couple so they’re forced to stand. Su-gyeoung right away notices that a delinquent in front of her hogging two seats with his fat ass and gives him an earful while he barks that he was just on his way to drop out of his school and doesn’t need any lecturing from an ‘ahjumma’. She’s offended and asks him to close his wide open thighs together. He refuses. He claims that he can’t since his closing his thighs is nearly impossible because of his large weight. Phillip, on the other hand, isn’t liking the extra attention the other passerbys are giving thanks to Su-gyeoung’s outspoken behavior. Enough is enough—Su-gyeoung forces him to leave his seats and assumes she’ll get off if he does. He exits and the metro door slams on him, leaving behind a chuckling Su-gyeoung and his ride to school.

Su-gyeoung leads Phillip towards their prized seats but he’s refusing to sit down. He just wishes that she could just be a submissive girl in scenarios like these and tolerate it a little better. She’s puzzled. He used to love this side of hers for five years, why should she change how she is now?

Flashback (Five Years Ago—First time she meets Phillip)
Someone spits a wad of gum next to her converse shoes. She looks up and sees this snobby woman and demands an apology.The woman just calls her boyfriend (Phillip) and tells him how she’s weird and all, making her apologize over a small matters like this for no reason. Left with no options, Phillip apologizes to Su-gyeoung for his skanky girlfriend. She storms off ahead of him and Phillip turns around, smiling.
End Flashback

Sug-gyeoung is at Starbucks with her girlfriends (consisting of Yu-Jin and Seventies Boss) discussing the strange change in Phillip. The conversation only ends up with Seventies Boss weeping on her numerous wedding called off at the last minute and picking her boogers reminds her of how she’ll just be stuck in her spinster days.

Talking about marriage is making Yu-Jin reevaluate Dong Wook as a potential husband. He is a freelancer, yes…and it’s making her worried. It’s just one of the things that Dong Wook isn’t fulfilling in the husband material checklist. And just by coincidence, Yu-Jin lands on an article explaining the things men want in women.

1. Men are weak to flattery. The girl must give specific compliments on their physical appearance.

There are some cons to this as Su-Gyeoung points out. For instance, if a man looks good in jeans, don’t go into further detail like ‘Your tight jeans make your butt look like a duck’ and from Seventies Boss’ Dirty Mind Vortex, “Your pink nipples showing through your white shirt are so romantic that I’m turned on”. No wonder she has no chance with men. She’s just bizarre in a creepy way. And just for the fun of it, it turns out young innocent maiden Yu-jin has a fetish for men in tights, particularly Batman and Superman.

2.  Men like slender women who can do sexy feline movements.

More misery added onto Su-gyeoung’s plate. It’s cruel enough as it is with the thin issue and now they have to appear feline sexy? How ridiculous.

3.  Men like women who praise them after making love. Even if it’s awful.

Okay. That’s it. Su-gyeoung knows this magazine is rubbish.

Daydream sequence (What it could be like if she followed these rules)
Phillip’s butt is extended while he plays pool. Su-gyeoung slaps it numerous times and compliments on how his butt is so firm that her eyes will fall out of their sockets. She leads Phillip down onto the pool tables using the ‘feline’ movements. She looks at him with lust glazed eyes as Phillip slowly comes down on her for a kiss… She praises him, telling him she’s looking forward to the next time.
End sequence

The trio are disturbed at the image. They sincerely hope that men couldn’t possibly like these kind of mindless girls.

Haha, that’s highly unlikely. Jeong hwan is talking about the same thing with his buddies at the gym. He doesn’t care if they’re mindless as long as his girl has a great face and big boobs he can fondle with. For his own sanity, Dong Wook is urging him to stop his countless dates with women and just rest for a while. Jeong hwan teases Dong Wook further by rubbing on his chest (Note: the two men are bare-chested in this scene. He’s implying he hasn’t experimented with homosexuality). Dong Wook shrugs it off and declines the offer as he’s happy being straight thankyouverymuch. Jeong hwan pounces on Ryohei and snuggles up against him in hopes he’ll be his experimental partner. Ryohei blankly refuses. Jeong hwan chuckles at himself at making a successful awkward tension among his pals.

Anyways, Dong Wook advises that if Jeong hwan to memorize all the girls he’s dates, he’d prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Blah blah, Jeong hwan just goes on and on praising himself. the boys go on venting their frustration on how women nowadays are being too dependent on their boyfriends like for instance carrying her tiny handbag for no reason. How in the world is that chilvarious behaviour? Woman, Hold it yerself you skank. They don’t care if you matched it with your outfit.

Jeong hwan goes on venting on how women have extremely high expectations that even normal men of today can’t meet them. Men don’t have that. They’re just happy if your face is pretty during daytime but with the possiblity of become sexy during the night, your height should be shorter than the guy and boobs must be of decent size.  It’s totally unfair. Woe is them. And plastic surgery? Jeong hwan is fine with double eyelid surgery. Ugh, how superficial.

Ryohei scoffs at Jeong hwan pointing out that women like that don’t even like him. So who is he to judge?

Colourful lights. Booze. Disco ball. People. Minae and Ryohei are out and about clubbing. She’s annoyed at Ryohei’s lame dance moves. He asks if Minae’s really interested in him or just using him as her boytoy. She ignores the question and decides to play a game with him. She’ll pick up the best looking guy while he’ll pick up the best looking girl and flirt with them for ten minutes.
Put strength in your stare. Guys like it when it looks like girls have an interest in you.

Round One: Minae’s got her eyes on one. And dang, he is cute! She does her signature hand move and initiates Maneater mode. The cute guy looks at her, gets up and walks past her. Minae stops him by latching onto his hand.  She gives her sensual look. Bang, he’s gone.

Ryohei comes back with a girl in hand ten minutes later and joins Minae with Cute Guy’s arm wrapped around her shoulders. Minae compliments on how Ryohei’s pick and he does the same. Then the two leave Cute Guy and Girl together, telling them they suit each other. Man, were they duped. It turns out that Cute Guy is an owner of an internet portal site and the Girl is a racing girl. Cute guy just further proceed to compliment her on how when she walked into the club, she “had a glow like headlights”. I don’t know about you but that does not sound sexy at all.

Back at the office, Su-gyeoung is working on an article but gets interrupted by Yu-jin who wants to go out. Her cell phone rings and it’s Dong Wook calling for her help in picking up drama music. Yu-jin spills her hot coffee and cries out in pain. He asks if she’s alright and she reponds in a cheesy manner about her heart is soaked as well. Yu-Jin’s cell phone battery dies and adds on to her misery.

Dong Wook calls her office phone a few minutes later and tells her to come out to surprise her. He bought her a new cell battery, fresh roasted and a dress.The dress fits her like a glove. Of course, it’s easy for him to tell, he just loves women’s bodies. Obviously he doesn’t tell her that.

Thoughts:
One thing that effed me in this episode is that revolving door scene. It must’ve taken at least twenty takes to completely film it. Showing the same scene with different camera angles is fine but don’t show it more than THIRTEEN TIMES (I even counted). I GET IT, MOVE ON. I want them to meet already damn it.

And about that glow like headlights compliment, I am still laughing my head off just thinking about it.

Yet here I am, digging Little Britain up into bits. I love BBC.
Awesome show might I add. It’s so witty and it’ll make you laugh till your sides hurt. Yes, it’s the same show that Johnny Depp was raving about to the media. He was rooting for the US version though.

So what’s it about?

Little Britain is a comedy sketch show featuring the duo, Matt Lucas and David Williams with an ‘attempt’ to explain British culture to foreigners. Really, it’s all that is to the viewers but it’s unique through its memorable characters. There’s Majorie Dawes the Fat Fighter woman who’s clearly obese herself, Emily Howard, the woMAN who desperate to be thought of as a lady, Daffyd – the self proclaimed gay essence/existence in town, Vicky Pollard (My favorite!) the white common deliquent, Sebastian and Micheal – Micheal is the spoof of Tony Blair (who is the prime minister by the way) whereas Sebastian (another favorite!) is his gay aide and he clearly wants to ‘get it on’ with him if you know what I mean. There’s certainly more but I’ve only watched the first few of the episodes.

What’s it about? You’d have to see it for yourself to understand. It’s like a fairytale. It’s a dramedy. And it’s spectacular.

It’s about a young boy that discovers that he has a unique ability to bring back the dead with a touch on his fingertip. One thing, he touches them again, they’ll fall asleep forever. There is a one minute grace period and if he doesn’t touch the dead person again, someone else in the proximity will take his/her place.  That’s what happened when the boy tries to revive his loving mother after a heart attack. The person who took her place in death was his childhood sweetheart’s father.

Now, I did not know this but the sweetheart’s name is Chuck. I looked up for the meaning and it says that Chuck means something similar to ‘Christgiver’ which fits nicely because…

19 years, 14 months, 36 hours, 14 minutes and 32 seconds, the boy becomes a piemaker, sharing his mother’s love of baking pies. He later learns that his childhood sweetheart is murdered aboard a cruise ship on a mission to deliver a suitcase containing two ceramic monkers. Ned, the piemaker is off to go see the situation. An intense urge came up and he revived her from her coffin. She’s alive alright… but unfortunately for Ned, even if he has a longing to hug her, he can’t.

But you know, this show makes kissing through cellophane wrap so romantic! And it’s stunning visuals with vibrant colours!

And wow, I love Emerson. His looks totally deceives you. Who would have known that the big macho detective who’s always looking out for any opportunity to get money has a soft side for knitting and pop-up books? I love his snarky remarks too!

Gah, I know this was going to happen sooner or later. It’s.. just not fun without the original couples anymore. I’m too attached to them.  Sure, Crown J and Seo InYoung are there. I love them bickering and fighting but it’s depressing because we can’t see their interactions with each other anymore. So Dambi and Marco bores the hell out of me, I skip their parts. The Hwanhee/Hwayobi couple looks promising. Speaking of the couple, did you see the episode last night on their honeymoon?

Holy smokes! And this is hwayobi?!? My first impression of her from the previous episodes were that she was a complete klutz and ditzy. She’s completely womanly when she sings. But her previous interviews from years before show a controlled, complacent side of her.  I guess it must be because she is completely gaga over bad boy Hwanhee. He ain’t bad looking.

Mezba over at his blog, perfectly describes what’s going on here. Frankly I would describe it myself but I’m too lazy.

Dadagiri is a new reality Indian TV show on a youth channel called Bindass. One of the segments of the show feature contestants withstanding verbal abuse by a female anchor dressed as some dominatrix. In this episode, it seems someone forgot to give the guy contestants the script – they were unmoved by her tirade.

What then followed, the girl lost her temper.

And slapped the guy.

And the guy … well, you’d better watch the video.

I find it pretty surprising that such television shows now air in the same land where Richard Gere cannot kiss Shilpa Shetty.

Of course the TV network then did not air the scene but completely left it out of the final cut that made it to the air.

And then conveniently released it on Youtube.

Hyunjoong’s gift to Hwangbo was none like other with his 995 paper cranes (done all by hand!) and his love confession for Hwang Bo! Just to reinterate what one of the MCs shouted, “IT’S THE END OF ALEEXXX['s romantic era]!!!” My eyes are brimming with happy, my sides are hurting from so much laughter, I perk up at slight mention of WGM on a bad day and I feel so much better instantaneously. This show is just too much goodness.

Yes, this has got to be the best moment so far in WGM.
I can’t wait to see what episode 27 has in store for us anxious fans.
Honestly, it’s not a drama but it feels like one. Heck, it’s better than what’s been airing recently in Korean dramas. So what are you doing? I DEMAND THAT YOU WATCH IT.

Maryam Tollar/A.R. Rahman – Maiyya Maiyya

The story behind this song is that famous A. R. Rahman (best known for composing modern bollywood hits since ages!) was on his Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca when he came across a man across the river repeatedly singing, “Maiyya, Maiyya” (meaning water in arabic). He was so taken at how it sounds like Hindi and ta daa! This masterpiece came out! Of course, the vocal artist had to go through some training since she never spoke Hindi but it fits so well! Okay, minus the crappy dance by so-called sex symbol Maalika Sherawat. Still, do take a look!

It might seem strange to you that I’m also posting a kpop video. It’s not my area of interest and I’m too old to be fangirling about things especially for boybands. The last time I fangirled boybands was in second grade with the BSBs. That’s long ago. But what caught my curiosity is that it’s a really really stunning music video! I searched hours and hours and found out that it’s directed by Cha Eun Taek and choreographed by Kenny Worwald. BUT OMG, WHAT A PRETTY VIDEO. I LOVE THE FLOATING GIRL. She mesmerizes me. I don’t get the asymetrical hairstyles, they look like they have rags on their heads and I don’t need to see their pseudo-boobage. Whatever, sex appeal to those crazy DBSK fangirls = chachinggg for the corporation. That’s not my business.  Cha Eun Taek is a genius.

Well, whaddya know. Is asian pop music a haven of plagiariasm or what? Turns out that German popstar Sarah Conner’s “Under My Skin” has the exact same rhythm… Whatever, the music video kicks butt imo.
