Little Britain is Love!

leave a comment »

Yet here I am, digging Little Britain up into bits. I love BBC.
Awesome show might I add. It’s so witty and it’ll make you laugh till your sides hurt. Yes, it’s the same show that Johnny Depp was raving about to the media. He was rooting for the US version though.

So what’s it about?

Little Britain is a comedy sketch show featuring the duo, Matt Lucas and David Williams with an ‘attempt’ to explain British culture to foreigners. Really, it’s all that is to the viewers but it’s unique through its memorable characters. There’s Majorie Dawes the Fat Fighter woman who’s clearly obese herself, Emily Howard, the woMAN who desperate to be thought of as a lady, Daffyd – the self proclaimed gay essence/existence in town, Vicky Pollard (My favorite!) the white common deliquent, Sebastian and Micheal – Micheal is the spoof of Tony Blair (who is the prime minister by the way) whereas Sebastian (another favorite!) is his gay aide and he clearly wants to ‘get it on’ with him if you know what I mean. There’s certainly more but I’ve only watched the first few of the episodes.

Here’s the first episode available for you to enjoy :D

Tell me what you think of it. I’m curious to hear your thoughts! :)

P.S. If you haven’t heard, Pushing Daisies has been canceled. Beloved show of mine, may you rest in peace. Ned’s touch of life didn’t do much to resuscitate you.

We Got Married News – JoongBo Leave Confirmed. I think I died inside a little.

with one comment

NOOOOOO!
First it was Andy and Solbi. Then Alex and Sinae.
It’s…. heartpainstakingly confirmed. No more Lettuce couple fun.
The JoongBo couple are leaving. All because of Hyunjoong’s involvement in Boys Over Flowers. I’m happy for his involvement but selfish lil
‘ me wish he didn’t so he could’ve stayed with Hwangbo and continue their awkward ways on WGM.

Source: CoolSmurf

Gah, I know this was going to happen sooner or later. It’s.. just not fun without the original couples anymore. I’m too attached to them.  Sure, Crown J and Seo InYoung are there. I love them bickering and fighting but it’s depressing because we can’t see their interactions with each other anymore. So Dambi and Marco bores the hell out of me, I skip their parts. The Hwanhee/Hwayobi couple looks promising. Speaking of the couple, did you see the episode last night on their honeymoon?

WHAT A VOICE, MIND YOU. I TOTALLY DID NOT EXPECT THAT “VOICE” TO COMING FROM HWAYOBI.

In case you missed last night,

Holy smokes! And this is hwayobi?!? My first impression of her from the previous episodes were that she was a complete klutz and ditzy. She’s completely womanly when she sings. But her previous interviews from years before show a controlled, complacent side of her.  I guess it must be because she is completely gaga over bad boy Hwanhee. He ain’t bad looking.

Music Featurettes: Maryem Tollar – “Maiyya, Maiyya”, DBSK – “Mirotic”

leave a comment »

Right, I should mention that all the MP3s I post are meant for sampling purposes. I’m only a poor student sharing her opinion on things so don’t sue me. You know the rules, delete after 24 hours or what ever works in your country.

Maryam Tollar/A.R. Rahman – Maiyya Maiyya

The story behind this song is that famous A. R. Rahman (best known for composing modern bollywood hits since ages!) was on his Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca when he came across a man across the river repeatedly singing, “Maiyya, Maiyya” (meaning water in arabic). He was so taken at how it sounds like Hindi and ta daa! This masterpiece came out! Of course, the vocal artist had to go through some training since she never spoke Hindi but it fits so well! Okay, minus the crappy dance by so-called sex symbol Maalika Sherawat. Still, do take a look!

It might seem strange to you that I’m also posting a kpop video. It’s not my area of interest and I’m too old to be fangirling about things especially for boybands. The last time I fangirled boybands was in second grade with the BSBs. That’s long ago. But what caught my curiosity is that it’s a really really stunning music video! I searched hours and hours and found out that it’s directed by Cha Eun Taek and choreographed by Kenny Worwald. BUT OMG, WHAT A PRETTY VIDEO. I LOVE THE FLOATING GIRL. She mesmerizes me. I don’t get the asymetrical hairstyles, they look like they have rags on their heads and I don’t need to see their pseudo-boobage. Whatever, sex appeal to those crazy DBSK fangirls = chachinggg for the corporation. That’s not my business.  Cha Eun Taek is a genius.

Well, whaddya know. Is asian pop music a haven of plagiariasm or what? Turns out that German popstar Sarah Conner’s “Under My Skin” has the exact same rhythm… Whatever, the music video kicks butt imo.

YouTube Spotlight: Where the Hell Is Matt?

with 2 comments

Okay, okay. I’m sure most of you already seen this video but ever wonder who sang the song? I thought it was vaguely familiar and guess I wasn’t wrong… I thought the song is sung in Bangla and turns out it is! The lyrics are from a poem called “Stream of Life” by the Bengali Shakespeare Rabindranth Tagore, a Nobel prize winner and a literary influence for the Bangladesh Liberation War in the 1970′s for you history junkies out there. The voice behind it is a seventeen year old Palbasha Siddique, an American Bangladeshi native in Minneapolis.

Praan (“Life”) – Garry Schyman

Bangla Romanized lyrics

Bhulbona ar shohojete
Shei praan e mon uthbe mete
Mrittu majhe dhaka ache
je ontohin praan

Bojre tomar baje bashi
She ki shohoj gaan
Shei shurete jagbo ami
(Repeat 3X)

Shei jhor jeno shoi anonde
Chittobinar taare
Shotto-shundu dosh digonto
Nachao je jhonkare!

Bojre tomar baje bashi
She ki shohoj gaan
Shei shurete jagbo ami
(Repeat 3X)

English Translation
Stream of Life
by Rabindranath Tagore

The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.

It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth
in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.

It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.

I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.

YouTube Spotlight: Christian Siriano – HIS FIERCEST MOMENTS

N’uff said. He’s a genius, fabulous, brilliant and the winner of Project Runway Season Four. You can’t help but fall for him. And I bet you’ll be including ‘fierce’ in your everyday vocabulary once you see this video.

YouTube Spotlight: Hi, I’m a Marvel… and I’m a DC.

Remember what I said when I was supposed to be on hiatus until August 10th?
Erase that. Stealing wi-fi from your neighbor can be so handy at times. Muahahaha.  Clearly, I have commitment issues.

En lieu with The Dark Knight Bonganza, I couldn’t help but laugh my ass off from this video.

Plagiarism: You Copycat!

with 4 comments

On an irrelevant comment, I changed my layout for the timebeing.  Bear with this change while I find one that suits.

I bet most of you academics were warned bout how copying and pasting research materials and claiming the work as your own lands you in hot scalding waters. What I’m surprised about is that nothing is done when other artists in a different country could profit at the expense of others. I’m pointing at you, Mr. Pritam. Don’t tell me it’s not a coincidence. I would have never found out if I didn’t pick up the latest copy of Race at my local Hindi rental shop and watched Delightful Girl Choon Hyang beforehand. Music can overcome geographical bourdaries, sure, but don’t blatantly steal it without giving credit.

Specimen One – Sarangaheyo from DGCH OST

Specimen Two – Pehli Nazar Mai from Race

Of course, I realize that the music industry is relentless towards its artists (Look at Hyori’s case with Get Ya and Britney Spear’s Do Somethin’). It looks like Pritam plagiarized more than one song. I’m already questioning his music credentials. But to go this low for fame? That’s despicable. Does he even know how many months a genuine artist spend in their studio to compose a three to four minute song?

What are your thoughts on this?

“Baby and Me” Movie Trailer

with 5 comments

Finally! Something that caught my eye recently featuring Jang Geun Seuk as the main lead who stumbles upon a baby and chaos starts to ensue for the poor nineteen year old. Yeah, it’s a romantic comedy. :) From what I learned, the movie was supposed to be released in July but it’s delayed till August.  I’m really looking forward to this to lift my mood since lately, this season’s dramas weren’t exactly spectacular or of any interest.

More details can be found at Soompi Forums.

P.S. ISN’T THAT THE MOST CUTEST BABY YOU’VE EVER SEEN?

Amanda Jenssen – Do You Love Me?

I’ve read somewhere that this winner runner up on the Swedish version of ‘American Idol’ divided the audience’s and judges’  opinion in half: either she screeched like a cat or she sang with utter brillance. Frankly, I’m mesmerized with this jazzy pop ensemble. Her voice is a sultry mix of Natasha Bedingfield and Amy Winehouse - It’s too darn good to pass up.

I came across this video and it’s tyleroakley‘s interesting persepective on… well you’ll see.  Him putting it that way almost made me chuckle. Check it out!
